cops

it's a job that's just as dangerous as being in a gang yet without all the so-called illegal activities. cops are justice hungry, wanting to put each and every one of the gang members behind bars. if only they could get an inch of evidence to prosecute these lawbreakers. however, some may not be all that meets the eye; for a few bucks here and there, the cops eyes might look the other way. it's up to them what they'd rather; risk their lives to prove everyone's guilt or simply turn the other cheek.

the role of a cop is important, they're here to protect and serve the public. not only that but they're here to take down the criminals, bust any jobs they have going on and so on. cops will play important parts in timeline events and also have their own safe haven inside the station.

cops also have positions available! here are a few suggestions going from highest rank to lowest + limitations. there will be no higher positions than captain.

Gangs

there are two gangs within the city. the ryeok, who are known as the 'mafia' and the kings and queens of the city. and the bulsajo, the reckless young ones in charge of more - disorganised crime.

civilians

innocents, as they are also called. civilians have no place inbetween the power struggle of the authorities and gangs, yet they will more often than not find themselves involved. civilians may also participate in gang activities, despite not being in the gang itself. for instance, they may run the bar that covers for the bulsajo's drug production line in the basement or they may simply have the bad luck of owing money to the ryeok. whatever the case, the civilians can try all they want but they'll never be able to get away from the darkness of ares.

there are no limitations to civilians, however we do ask that you keep in mind there shouldn't be too many of one thing.

Ryeok

the original leaders of ares, the ryeok are known for boosting the development of the city. through their various illegal activities, they brought a lot of money and jobs into ares. as homage to their name, they also brought strength to the city.
each and every member has a speciality, a certain skill that they have honed after many years acting as associates under the soldiers of the ryeok. even becoming an associate is an ordeal, let alone finishing their induction into the gang. however, the hard work pays off in the end. whether it be assassination, hacking or drug dealing, the ryeok are the best at what they do. That is until, the bulsajo came about.

there will be some limitations to the ryeok, who are a very loyal gang. once you're in - you're in. there will be no higher rank than boss. the underbosses are second in command, consligliere is the 'advisor' and rarely involved in the actual illegal activities but still highly respected. caporegime / 'capos' are the next in command on the ground, they usually have a good say in their own field be it the drug industry, weapons dealing, etc etc. finally are your soldiers who are the ground crew, the lowest ranking and do all of the dirty deeds. all may specialise in something but keep in mind, not everyone can be a hacker or an assassin.

Bulsajo

bulsajo, meaning pheonix. this group was originally a part of the ryeok but they grew strong amongst themselves and broke off, wanting to prove their own strength without the annoyances of tradition. the bulsajo are not as perfect as the ryeok, but they have ability.
mainly made up of young kids who have yet to find their road in life, the bulsajo accepts everyone, regardless of their ability. even better, they don't have the rigorous entrance ceremonies. if you can do your job, you are able to join the bulsajo.

less structure than ryeok but they will also have limitations (so we aren't overrun with hackers etc.). the highest rank will be boss, the other ranks will not matter in bulsajo.
